As Aston Villa continue to be linked to River Plate striker Julian Alvarez, we get to see interesting claims from South America on the youngster’s future today.
Outlet DMZ features a piece about the big race for his signing and claims that the player feels no rush to leave the Buenos Aires side, and has made a ‘strong decision’.
It’s said that Alvarez’s intention is to sign a new deal with River Plate, just so they can make a bigger profit with his sale, and only leave the club next summer.
That means he’d only move in January in case someone shows up and triggers his release clause, which currently stands at US$25m (£18m).
MDZ claims that ‘some of the interested’ clubs are Valencia, Real Sociedad, Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen, Inter Milan and Milan. Still, they claim no formal offers were made to River Plate yet.
Julian Alvarez has 14 goals and 11 assists in 36 appearances for the Millonario this season. His contract expires in December 2022, so it makes sense that an extension has already turned into a subject in the local media.
