Cesc Fabregas’ future now lies away from Chelsea after Maurizio Sarri admitted the midfielder should leave Stamford Bridge.
He also stressed the Blues need to bring a replacement if the Spaniard leaves the west London club.
Corriere dello Sport reported on Monday that Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella or Zenit’s Leandro Paredes have been identified as the former Arsenal star’s potential successor in the Blues squad.
Sky Sport in Italy now has an update on Barella as they claim Napoli are in pole position to sign the Serie A star, but Sarri ‘loves’ the 21-year-old.
It’s claimed the manager has insisted Chelsea sign him in January and Sarri has identified the Italy international as Fabregas’ successor.
However, the deal is unlikely to take shape because the report mentions that Chelsea are ‘not entirely convinced’ about Barella’s signing.
This could come as a positive news for Napoli and Manchester United as the Red Devils also reportedly made a £30m take it or leave it offer for Barella.
