Andreas Christensen has been described as a ‘crack’ as he continues to impress at Barcelona following his move from Chelsea in the summer.

Marca cover the player today and how he has established himself as a key player this season following his arrival at the Nou Camp.

He joined on a free from Chelsea as part of Barca’s summer rebuild, in which he was arguably one of the lesser names to arrive in a busy transfer window.

Marca say ‘very few would have predicted’ that months afterwards he would give the performance that he has, outshining some of the bigger names he arrived alongside.

According to them there was a feeling that Barcelona had signed a ‘reject’ in the Dane and missed out on the ‘big fish’ to Antonio Rüdiger.

The opposite has proven to be the case, though, with manager Xavi ‘raving’ about the defender from day one amid continued ‘magnificent’ performances. Indeed, he’s been so good that Jules Koundé has been shunted out to right-back.

Christensen is now the key player in Barcelona’s defence, having ‘adapted surprisingly quickly’ to what was asked of him and flourishing.

That’s not only made him a fan in Xavi but also among the fans, who have quickly changed their opinion on a player they weren’t all that excited to be getting from Chelsea in the summer.
