As things stand, Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer could end up leaving Parkhead on a free next summer if the Scottish club don’t lower their demands for their star.
The Norwegian’s deal with the SPFL side is set to expire in June 2022, and while there has been interest in his services this summer from various clubs, Ange Postecoglou’s side haven’t accepted any offers.
Bayer Leverkusen are the ones reportedly pushing the hardest for the versatile player, but Kicker in Germany are claiming that Celtic are ‘demanding €15m’ for their man.
That is a sum the Bundesliga side have ‘not even come close to offering’, and that’s despite the fact Kristoffer Ajer ‘would like to leave’ Parkhead this summer ‘to join a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues’.
Celtic, however, are being ‘quite stubborn’, and that’s causing problems in getting any deal over the line.
While his club had a fairly rough season by their standards, Ajer was almost ever-present in the competitions that mattered, scoring two goals and assisting another four in 46 appearances over the course of the 2020-21 campaign.
