On deadline day of the summer window, Manchester United agreed a deal with Atalanta for Amad Diallo’s transfer and the winger was expected to arrive at Old Trafford in the winter market.
The Red Devils confirmed in October that the 18-year-old’s move is ‘subject to medical, personal terms and work permit’.
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has already expressed his desire to take the attacker on loan until the end of this season.
Over the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport explained the player was expected to travel to England and it’s also reported by TuttoMercatoWeb today.
According to TMW, Diallo ‘left this morning for Manchester’ and ‘will officially begin his adventure at United’ today.
Gasperini’s request to have the wideman on a temporary deal is mentioned, but the website states it’s ‘difficult’ for Atalanta to take Diallo on loan.
That’s because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to have the teenager at his disposal, even if in the ‘next few hours’, the Serie A side will ‘apply’ for a ‘new loan’ transfer for Diallo.
TuttoMercatoWeb end their report by stating that in the ‘next few hours everything will be clearer’ over where Diallo will play until the end of this season.
There’s no mention of concerns regarding Diallo obtaining a work permit, and if he’s eligible to represent Manchester United, it’s unlikely Atalanta can have him back until the end of this campaign.
