As Sporting prepare themselves for a big Europa League game against Arsenal, they rely on their club captain to keep his good record against the Gunners.
Luís Nani played for Manchester United between 2007 and 2014, when the club would rarely lose to Arsene Wenger’s side.
That’s why newspaper Record brings a story about his record against the Gunners today, as he has seven wins, one draw and one loss.
Record recalls Nani’s special games against Arsenal, even though he’s scored only twice. One goal in a 4-0 League Cup win in the 2007/08 season, and another one in the 8-2 historic victory in 2011/12.
Record writes that Nani ‘knows how to disarm Arsenal’, saying ‘he is usually particularly happy in matches against Arsenal’.
They’re clearly banking on him to produce this week.
Other Sporting players such as Sebastian Coates, Radosav Petrovic and Jeremy Mathieu have also faced the Gunners already, but only the former Barcelona player has a positive record.
