Leeds United were linked to Emiliano Buendia on Sunday which prompted a reasonable reaction of… who?

Currently on loan at Cutural Leonesa from Getafe for the rest of the season, Buendia has been close to a move to Swansea City twice over the past year. The Welsh club were first linked during the winter transfer window, and then in July were said to be ‘on the verge’ of signing the player, themselves on a loan deal.

Moving to the Premier League and expecting more football always seemed a dream too far, with Cultural the better destination. Leeds United links are likely to have been born through their relationship with Cultural, but it would still be Getafe who made any decision.

The Spanish club rate Buendia highly, and have him on a contract until 2021.

On Sunday, Buendia started for Cultural against Huesca, and his loan team won 3-2.

The 20 year old attacking midfielder was Man of the Match, according to Marca’s ratings, and the only player on the pitch to get 3 stars.

That’s pretty impressive considering Yeray González scored two goals and only got 2 stars.

An even better slant for Leeds United is that out of the 5 matches Marca graded that day in the Segunda Division, only 2 other players matched him.
