Brentford showed interest in SC Braga’s Roger Fernandes in the winter market.
On February 12th, we covered claims from Portugal that Brentford made a €15m offer to sign the winger towards the end of the last window. It was also stated Braga rejected the Bees’ proposal and demanded a fee close to his €40m release clause.
PSV Eindhoven, Newcastle United, Ajax, Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were also credited with interest in the 19-year-old. Brentford were the latest club to be thrown into the mix.
The Brentford target has now suffered an injury setback, according to Maisfutebol.
On Sunday, the Guinea-Bissau born youngster was replaced after 24 minutes in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Rio Ave.
Braga have confirmed he picked up a muscle injury that should keep him out of action for six weeks. This means the Brentford target will miss the key fixtures against FC Porto and Sporting.
Roger joined Braga’s academy in 2020 and was promoted to their first team in 2021. He managed five goals and five assists from 44 games this season.
Thomas Frank’s side didn’t sign an attacker in January and could return for Roger in the summer.
