Argentine outlet TNT Sports today features an interview with Valentín Castellanos, who isn’t really known among people from his home country.
The striker has made his career abroad, playing in Chile, Uruguay and now in the United States, where he features for New York City FC, which belongs to the City Football Group… giving the youngster dreams of Manchester City.
The story says that Castellanos is currently being considered for Argentina’s U23 squad, which gives him hope of playing at the Olympics in Tokyo next year.
“I’m very happy to be considered for the national team,” Castellanos told TNT. “I feel at a very good level today and I’m proud. I will continue working and we will see how this continues. I’m very well and very happy for my moment.”
As every New York City FC player, Castellanos also dreams of making a move to Manchester City one day. He was asked about it by TNT, and made it clear how happy he would be if he had this chance.
“I’m taking things easy, I keep working every day. But it’s very nice to talk about these things. That Manchester City are behind (the club) is very nice because it motivates you. In the future I would love to go and be in Europe.”
Castellanos has 11 goals and six assists in 32 matches this season.
Likely because he plays outside of Europe, Transfermarkt rates him really lowly, saying he has a market value of only €600k.
