Tottenham and Valencia are ‘finalising the details’ of Bryan Gil’s return to the Spanish club, with the player set to join up with Gennaro Gattuso’s side next week.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who say Gil is ‘giving up €1m’ to make a second loan move to Valencia a possibility.
They explain that the La Liga side have been ‘simmering the return’ of Gil for months following his successful loan spell at the club last season.
They’re now working with Tottenham to finalise the deal, having waited until the right time to get the player back.
Valencia executives held a meeting in London in May with Fabio Paratici and various Tottenham official to negotiate a move, but Spurs chose to delay it until this month.
Thus, the Spaniards took their time, confident they could get a deal over the line as they had already ‘convinced the player’ into the move.
As no offers arrived in the interim, Tottenham agreed to negotiate a new deal and a second loan was struck following ‘several very positive talks’.
Valencia have made a considerable financial effort to bring Gil back because of his high salary, but the player has also made a sacrifice, foregoing around €1m so he can return to the Mestalla.
He is convinced that he can return to his best level under Gattuso and so is willing to lose the money to ensure a second spell at the club.
