If Don Balon are to be believed, which they’re probably not, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have so much of a say in transfers at their respective clubs that they pretty much dictate what goes on.

On Monday it’s claimed ‘Cristiano Ronaldo is very clear that Gareth Bale will not continue at Real Madrid next season’, and he’s not only decided that, but also that his replacement is Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The 25 year old’s ‘tremendous’ leap in quality at Liverpool is said to have been enough to convince Ronaldo to push for his signing, subsequently giving his ‘green light’.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, it’s worth noting that despite some outlandish rumours, there’s not a great deal of serious claims in Spain that Real Madrid will go for the Liverpool star.

Salah’s quality isn’t being questioned, the football world is falling increasingly in love with the Egyptian, but the potential transfer isn’t yet being given the full Madrid media treatment.

Much like getting Harry Kane from Tottenham, Real Madrid will know that prising Salah from Liverpool would be hugely expensive and perhaps impossible this summer.

That’s likely why there’s plenty of rumours from outlandish sources, but nothing really concrete from newspapers like Marca and AS.

For now, Liverpool fans can rest easy. If and when Marca start splashing Salah to Real Madrid over repeated front pages… that when Jurgen Klopp can start worrying.
