Even though Andrey Santos couldn’t get a work permit to feature for Chelsea in the Premier League, his talent continues to being well acknowledged in Brazil.

The midfielder has now been called up by the national team, and will be in the squad which will face Morocco in a friendly on the 25h of March.

Andrey had only played for Brazil’s U-20 so far. There, he was managed by Ramon Menezes, who’s now the caretaker at the first team following Tite’s departure from the job.

The midfielder had been a star in the U-20 South American Championship this year, captaining the side, and that undoubtedly helped him to get a place among the big stars now.

Chelsea spent €12.5m to sign the midfielder from Vasco da Gama in January, but without his work permit, he got loaned back to the Rio de Janeiro side this week.

The loan is set to work to give him more points to get the visa. Vasco had been playing the second division last year, but are now in the top tier, and that would help him with meeting the necessary requirements.

Now it turns out that with him going to the national team, that will also work in favour of the work permit.

The loan from Chelsea runs until the end of June, and it’s likely he’ll be clear to play for the Blues next season.
