It’s now time for the Argentine media to bring some updates on Lisandro Martinez’s transfer from Ajax to Manchester United.
Journalist César Luis Merlo is the one with the information that after missing training sessions so he could sort out his future, the defender is set to travel to England ‘in the next few hours’.
Martinez is expected to have medical tests in Manchester and sign a contract until 2027. According to the report, the move is set to be done for €50m plus a potential €5m in performance bonuses.
The defender joined Ajax in a move from Defensa y Justicia back in 2019. In his three years in the Eredivisie, he made 118 appearances, winning two league titles. He’s also won a Copa America with Argentina.
Following today’s win against Melbourne Victory, Manchester United still have two more pre-season games in Australia next week, against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, however, there’s been conflicting claims on whether Martinez will travel there.
The Red Devils then return to Europe to face Atlético Madrid in Oslo and finally Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.
