Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a growing number of articles suggesting that Chelsea could make a move for Matthijs De Ligt.
After all, the Blues are expecting to potentially lose three starting defenders in the summer on free transfers, with Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rüdiger and César Azpilicueta all in the final six months of their deals.
Thus, at least one new centre-back in the summer will be needed, and Chelsea have allegedly targeted the Dutchman to improve their defence.
The price will be high, with it touted to be around the €100m mark, but that’s never stopped Roman Abramovich in the past, and probably won’t this time around either.
Sport Mediaset have an article on the situation of both Paulo Dybala and De Ligt, with it said that Juventus are ‘ready to negotiate the sale’ of the player, who would have ‘already decided to change team at the end of the season’.
In fact, he is ‘flattered by the advances of Barcelona and Chelsea’, meaning he clearly likes the idea of both destinations.
We will keep an eye out for anything new on this going forward, but where there’s this much smoke, there’s normally some fire.
