After having two loan spells with AS Monaco, Adrien Silva wanted to leave Leicester City and had his wish fulfilled when he completed a permanent move to Sampdoria in the last week of the transfer window.

The midfielder has given an interview to his new club’s official channel, in which he revealed how a conversation with Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes influenced his decision to join the Serie A side.

Silva signed for the Foxes from Sporting in 2018 and in his final season at the Portuguese club, he played alongside the Red Devils star.

Fernandes was with the Blucerchiati for the 2016/17 season and knows the club and city very well.

After receiving the proposal from Claudio Ranieri’s side, Silva held talks with the United midfielder and that convinced him to join the Italian club.

“I talked to Bruno Fernandes when the offer from Sampdoria arrived and I asked him some questions, very important aspects when it comes to making such a decision, and he only said good things to me, he helped me a lot in making this choice,” Silva said, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb

Silva added Sampdoria’s desire to sign him was also crucial for him to make a switch to the Serie A side.

“I chose Sampdoria because it is a club with a great history. Made up of great players who have passed through here, but also for the interest that the club and the coach have shown in me. It was very important for me. Seeing this desire to have me was decisive. Seeing so many efforts to get me made me feel important,” he explained.
