Arsenal are interested in Albert Sambi Lokonga and their chase for the Anderlecht midfielder is getting regularly discussed in the Belgian media.
The latest update came from Het Belang van Limburg earlier today and they stated the Gunners have ‘increased the offer’ to sign the 21-year-old.
Het Nieuwsblad now claim that ‘in principle’, Lokonga was expected to report today at the club for the team photo, having returned from a holiday.
However, it ‘doesn’t seem certain’ the Belgian will be posing for the squad photo because of the north London club, who are ‘really pushing’ in bringing the player to the Emirates.
It’s claimed the latest improved proposal from Mikel Arteta’s side is around €17.5m in fixed fee plus €4m in potential bonus payments. The team led by Vincent Kompany’s side were hoping to get at least €20m fixed fee for Lokonga.
The newspaper adds the talks are ongoing in deciding the ‘percentage for a later resale’, and sources close to the negotiations have confirmed to Het Nieuwsblad the ‘figures mentioned are realistic and that a final deal is close’.
Lokonga has agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal and with their latest offer, his move to the Emirates seems to be ‘close’.
