Napoli star Jorginho has been the priority target for Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in the summer transfer window.
According to the Italian outlet CalcioNapoli24.it, Jorginho should complete his move to the Etihad Stadium in the next 72 hours. The two clubs are still involved in negotiations for the transfer to be sealed.
Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain and Napoli sports director Cristiano Giuntoli have exchanged talks over the telephone, after the Serie A outfit had earlier rejected the English champions’ €50m offer for Jorginho.
Giuntoli has exchanged a lot of emails and telephone conversations with Begiristain. The report claims City have now improved their offer and Napoli are willing to reach an agreement with Guardiola’s side, who have long been chasing the player.
There is no mention about the actual figure of City’s latest offer, but all parties are believed to be keen to get the deal done and it could be closed in the next 72 hours.
Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos even admitted his client has an “opportunity of his life” to join the Premier League winners. If the report is true, the 26-year-old will be a new City player before the end of this week.
