Sofyan Amrabat’s time at Manchester United is quickly becoming ‘bitter’, with the dream transfer turning into a nightmare for him.
That’s according to La Repubblica, who speculate that the Moroccan could be set for a quick exit next year if Manchester United don’t take up their option on him.
The newspaper details how Amrabat is in a moment of decline at Old Trafford, having been relegated to the bench over the weekend by the star performance of youngster Kobbie Mainoo.
It’s left him on the outside looking in, with Erik ten Hag seemingly preferring the youngster and that opinion unlikely to change given his excellent performance at Goodison Park.
That’s ‘bitter’ for Amrabat, whose desire to prove himself while on loan this season isn’t working out so far.
It means there are questions about what happens next with the midfielder, with Manchester United yet to decide whether to take up an option to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis.
They have a clause in the current loan deal to do so but the emergence of Mainoo and Ten Hag’s preference for other options would suggest they aren’t going to take that up.
That could change in the coming months but for now it appears that Amrabat’s dream move is quickly turning into a nightmare and he’ll be heading back to Florence.
