Paris Saint-Germain have identified Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante as a priority transfer target in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to RMC Sport, the French capital club’s sporting director Antero Henrique and PSG’s decision makers in Qatar are keen on bringing the former Caen man to Parc des Princes to further strengthen their midfield for the next season.

Henrique has already held talks with the Blues star in order to convince him to join PSG. He signed a five-year deal when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2016. The France international’s current employers are asking for a fee of around €100 million (£88.2 million) to part ways with their player.

PSG are unlikely to have an issue with the Premier League club’s asking price for the midfielder. However, Uefa’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules could force them to hold back from splashing the cash on Kante.

Chelsea are currently fifth in the league table with 66 points after 35 games, trailing fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur by five points. Antonio Conte’s side could be in danger of failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Should they fail to seal a berth in the Europe’s elite club competition, Kante is still expected to continue with his current employers beyond the summer transfer window. In addition to this, the Ligue 1 winners will also face an uphill task signing him as the former Foxes star is unwilling to return to France in the summer.

PSG star Kylian Mbappe earlier admitted that he feels Kante’s quality would make him the perfect addition for the French champions. RMC Sport claims it was the club’s decision to urge their players talk publicly about the summer targets with a hope that it would encourage the player to join them.

Kante won the title with Leicester City in the 2015/16 season and after spending one season at the King Power Stadium, he joined the west London club. He was instrumental in helping Chelsea win the title last term and he is one of the vital players for the Blues.
