A few weeks ago, as the transfer window was closing, Tottenham Hotspur were seriously, and once again, linked with a move for Dinamo Zagreb’s Ante Coric.
Croatian newspaper Jutarnji claimed that Tottenham had made a €15m verbal offer for 19 year old Coric, but there was no update on whether that had been accepted or refused.
It was unclear whether the Tottenham claims were real, fabricated to set the price at €15m, or just usual rumour mill stuff.
At the time we explained: ‘As is always with the case with Ante Coric, and most Dinamo Zagreb transfer rumours, it’s best to approach the situation with some caution. Despite being just 19 years of age, Coric already has a string of transfer sagas behind him.
That’s not to put blame on the player, it seems to be that when a brilliant youngster is found in Croatian football, many people want a piece of the action, and that complicates things.’
And now there’s more drama.
Coric has been dropped from Dinamo’s latest match-day squad, for the game against Juventus tonight. he’s taken to Instagram to talk about it, without revealing any reasons.
Dinamo coach Zeljko Sopić has since spoken to the Croatian version of Goal and said Coric has been dropped because he’s not pulling his weight in training, and needs to do so if he wants to be picked for big matches.
That €15m verbal offer would probably be snatched off the tongue right now.
