A few days ago we covered reports from Spain that Aston Villa loan player Carles Gil had left a Deportivo La Coruna training session ‘visibly upset’.

The reason was injury and whilst the extent of any issue wasn’t known, the player’s reaction was obviously concerning.

Gil is trying to kick-start his career with Depor on loan, and the last thing he needs is an extended period out. Aston Villa hadn’t been the dream that Gil imagined it would be, and his time at the club turned into something of a nightmare ending in relegation.

Depor scheduled a scan on the injury and the results have been published by the Spanish media. Mundo Deportivo say Gil has a grade one tear of his left hamstring, which isn’t something expected to keep him out for long, but there’s no return date yet.

The Spanish newspaper say Gil started the season as a starter but since then the Aston Villa owned player had dropped down the pecking order, which may underline why he was upset.
