Kelechi Iheanacho’s move to Sevilla after leaving Leicester City this summer isn’t going to plan, and it doesn’t look like improving either.
That’s at least if the latest from Estadio Sevilla is to be believed, the newspaper reporting that the striker seems unlikely to be making his way into the first team any time soon.
They explain that with Isaac Romero out of the side due to injury, Iheanacho once again put in a ‘very discreet performance’ in the 2-1 win over Real Valladolid.
He missed two clear chances in that game and ‘does not convince manager García Pimienta at all’ with what he’s shown so far.
The Sevilla boss believes that the player has potential, and the club were excited by his arrival on a free transfer after he left Leicester in the summer, he simply hasn’t managed to impress.
So much so that García Pimienta is actually planning a system without him despite Romero’s absence through injury. That would see Iheanacho on the bench and Peque used as a centre-forward instead.
If that does happen, we’re sure even more questions will be asked, with many already wondering what’s going on with the former Leicester man.
This is something Sevilla have looked to bat away as much as possible but if García Pimienta goes ahead with this idea, those questions will be multiplied.
