Joan Garcia was a target for Arsenal in the summer window but the goalkeeper’s move to the Emirates hit the usual hurdle of the buying club not wanting to pay what the selling club were asking for.
Arsenal wanted to pay around €20m whereas Espanyol referred to the player’s €30m release clause.
While the goalkeeper was playing in the Spanish second division with Espanyol last season, he has acquired top-flight experience this season and has appeared in all six games for the Catalan club.
El Periodico Mediterraneo have reported that the Gunners could return for the goalkeeper in January, but they make it clear the summer transfer collapsing has turned out well for the player.
The report states the ‘decision couldn’t have gone better’ for the 23-year-old, who has already impressed in the current campaign.
The Spaniard has made 4.67 saves per game so far in the campaign, letting in nine goals and keeping one clean-sheet.
Arsenal wanted him as a back up option to David Raya, and whilst the Premier League is always attractive, getting minutes in La Liga is preferable for the goalkeeper than sitting on the bench at this stage of his career.
