Victor Lindelof to Manchester United isn’t likely to be a rumour which disappears between now and the summer transfer window. The Swedish defender was heavily linked with an Old Trafford move during the winter window, but it seemed to be more Benfica trying to sell the player, and raise funds, rather than Manchester United going after Lindelof specifically.
Reports in Italy over the past few days have highlighted Italian interested, but Portuguese newspaper A Bola say some of the claims have been wide of the mark.
Manchester United don’t, explain A Bola in their Saturday edition, have a signed agreement to buy Lindelof in the summer window. What Jose Mourinho does have is ‘an agreement of gentlemen’ meaning Manchester United can buy Lindelof for around €40m.
Mourinho ‘reserves’ the option to sign Lindelof in the summer window, after talks ahead of the January window.
Again, this is likely to be Benfica pushing the player towards market and Manchester United are the club they’d likely get most money off, so the best place to start.
