Life isn’t too bad if you’re Djibril Sidibé. The 24 year old flexible fullback is a France international, a Ligue 1 champion, and a much wanted man.
The fullback market isn’t saturated this summer, or at least not saturated enough at the top level to deal with the growing demand. Right footed Sidibé is, naturally, more comfortable on the right side of a defence but he’s shown for AS Monaco that he’s certainly capable of playing on the left too.
Speaking during the current international gathering, Sidibé has made it clear his focus is on the national team, especially with the World Cup on the horizon. He’s in no hurry to leave Monaco, and time on the pitch is a huge factor for the player next season.
L’Equipe explain Sidibé is currently reflecting, considering his future options. The French newspaper say Arsenal and Tottenham would be interested in signing the player, because of the doubts those clubs have about Hector Bellerin and Kyle Walker, respectively.
Tottenham and Arsenal are the only two clubs mentioned, and L’Equipe point out that Sidibé is attracted by the Premier League. But the newspaper doesn’t sound too confident about a potential move to White Hart Lane, sorry, Wembley, or the Emirates.
Those are two possibilities for Sidibé to consider. It fits in with L’Equipe’s claim on May 30th that Tottenham have ‘expressed their interest’ in the player, and longer term Arsenal links.
