Romelu Lukaku is literally on his way to London, according to reports from Italy.
Sky Italia (via Tutto Mercato Web) now claims that the Inter Milan striker is ‘currently flying on a private jet’ and should soon arrive to complete his transfer to Chelsea.
The story says the official announcement will be made this week, with the Blues spending €115m for his return to Stamford Bridge.
Earlier today, the Italian media had already spotted Lukaku leaving a clinic, along with agent Federico Pastorello, following his medical ahead of the Chelsea move. So it should now be a matter of landing in London and sorting out the paperwork so the transfer can be official.
Spotted at the airport, he was asked to say something to Inter Milan fans, and said: “I’ll send a message in a few days.”
Romelu Lukaku first joined Chelsea in a €15m move from Anderlecht back in the summer of 2011. He belonged to the Blues for three years, at a time where he had loans at West Bromwich Albion and Everton. When playing for the London side, he only had 15, and ended up being sold to the Toffees in 2014.
Now after successful seasons at Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan, he’s ready to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.
