Despite being linked numerous times with a move for Joakim Maehle, West Ham United have yet to make a bid.
The Danish defender is one of the players Atalanta would be ready to let go this summer, and Corriere della Sera’s Bergamo edition carry a brief update on the situation.
It’s said that Hans Hateboer has ‘one foot out’ of the club, while Maehle ‘is in the crosshairs of West Ham’, where David Moyes would like to bolster his defence.
The Hammers do have Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson in the role at right-back already, but it seems their manager would like another reinforcement, perhaps for squad depth and versatility purposes.
Either way, the outlet believe West Ham ‘could offer the €15m’ that Atalanta are requesting for Maehle, which seems reasonable enough, considering the player is 25 years of age and has three years left on his current contract in Italy.
This certainly has nothing to do with using a Premier League side to get a new contract, so it could be the Premier League side are genuinely interested in the Dane, who has been linked with a move to England in the past, dating back to the days when he was still a KRC Genk player.
