Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek hasn’t made an appearance since September and his future could be away from Old Trafford.
That’s according to a ‘confidential’ report from today’s Sport, who state the 26-year-old is ‘crazy about leaving’ the Red Devils.
It’s said the Manchester United player ‘offers himself’ to Barcelona, who are in the market looking for opportunities to strengthen their midfield after Gavi picked up a serious injury.
The La Liga side’s technical leaders aren’t in favour of bringing in a stop-gap player for six months while Barca’s coaching staff believe an addition in the middle of the pitch would help them in the second half of this season.
According to the newspaper, the Catalan club have several names on the table and one of the midfielders who would be ‘delighted’ to move to the Camp Nou is the former Ajax man.
Barca reportedly showed interest in the Netherlands international previously, before he joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2020, although they didn’t do anything about that.
Van de Beek has a profile that will suit Barca and despite this, Sport state ‘doubts are very high’ about signing him in the winter market.
Taking his form over the past few years, it’s wishful thinking, bordering on delusion, from the Manchester United player to believe he could solve Barcelona’s problems.
