Fenerbahce’s new signing Max Kruse has spoken to Bein Sports Turkey at the Super Lig club’s training camp in Austria.
The Turkish club managed to land the German earlier in this transfer window on a three-year contract despite reported interest from Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp was said to be looking to add to his attacking options following the exit of Daniel Sturridge and the German media claimed Liverpool interest in the former Werder Bremen player.
Kruse has conformed he did have an offer from Liverpool, but turned down their approaches in favour of Fenerbahce: “During the transfer period, I’ve received lots of offers and one of them was Liverpool. But I decided to join Fenerbahce because I believe I will be very happy there. I spoke with a lot of players during that period and I am happy about my decision.”
In addition to this, Haber Global’s Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Jurgen Klopp personally called Kruse to try and attempt to convince the player to sign for the Reds, but he opted to head to Istanbul.
At this stage of his career it seems the former Werder Bremen forward is looking for regular first team football, something the 31 year old wouldn’t have been guaranteed at Anfield.
