Yagmur Cicek, who owns the restaurant where Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac dined before an apparent attempted car-jacking on Thursday, has spoken to the Turkish media.

Armed men on mopeds attacked the vehicle the two Arsenal players, and their wives, were travelling in, only to find themselves chased away by Kolasinac.

The incident is big news around the world.

Footage of Kolasinac fighting back has gone viral and the defender has come in for praise for his heroic actions. The Bosnia international has confirmed both he and Ozil are fine following what happened yesterday evening.

Ozil is a huge star in Turkey so the incident has been a major news story.

Speaking from her Turkish restaurant in London, Cicek told NTV: “The incident started away from our restaurant. At first, the armed gang attacked the car with stones. Ozil immediately called us to call the police. We did just that. After that, they came to our restaurant for protection. Ozil was very relaxed and his wife was a little bit scared. I feel sorry for her.”

Cicek added she’s very close to the Arsenal player, and it’s clear just how fond of him she is: “I’ve known Mesut for quite a good amount of time. I really love him, he’s a great boy. He is like my child. I could do anything for him.

“I could even die for him because I love Mesut so much. Him and his wife are very good people, we are like a family. The other guy, Sead, I also know him very well. He is very brave, very respectful.”
