Leaving Everton to join Barcelona may sound like a good move for many players, but not all of them would do that before thinking twice.
That’s what Gerard Deulofeu would be doing right now, as according to Sport today the player wants guarantees before signing for the Catalan side.
Although Barça are reportedly ready to pay the €12m buyback clause and bring him from Everton, the player wants to make sure he’ll be valued at his old home.
Sport claims that Deulofeu doesn’t want to be used to make money, and will only accept the transfer if he’s an important part of the Barcelona squad for next season.
Deulofeu left Everton looking for game time, and it’s worked, so he’s against the idea of being a Barca bit-part player.
Currently impressing at Milan, the player is attracting interest from other Serie A sides such as Inter Milan and Napoli, but his will is to return to his former club.
Sport say Barcelona would indeed be planning to keep him in the first team, and that’s what they will say to convince the player’s entourage when they meet in a few weeks.
If Deulofeu accepts the move, then there’s nothing Everton, Milan or any other interested sides can do about it. He’ll be a Barça player once again.
