On June 30th, we carried a report from Het Belang van Limburg, who stated that Arsenal have ‘increased their offer’ for Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The new proposal includes a fixed fee of €17.5m and an additional €4m in potential bonuses.
Later that day, Het Nieuwsblad stated the midfielder was expected to skip Anderlecht’s squad photo because the Gunners are ‘really pushing’ to bring the player to the English capital.
Since then, there hasn’t been a concrete update, at least in Belgium, until La Dernière Heure came up with a fresh update on this case today.
In a short report, it’s claimed the 21-year-old is ‘closer than ever’ to a switch to the Emirates.
Vincent Kompany and his men will make a trip to Alkmaar today and will be there for the next six days for a preseason camp.
DH explain Lokonga will not make the trip to the Netherlands, unless there’s any last-minute changes on Monday.
That’s because he’s ‘about to leave Anderlecht’ for Mikel Arteta’s side, and if everything goes as per the plan, Lokonga will sign for Arsenal later this week.
