Joakim Maehle has been linked with West Ham repeatedly by the Italian media in recent weeks.
Most of the claims are rather brief, simply talking of an ongoing interest from David Moyes’s side. There doesn’t appear to have been a concrete offer pushed forward yet by the Hammers, but that’s not to say that developments aren’t expected.
On Wednesday evening, Calciomercato reported the Atalanta winger has interest from the Premier League, ‘especially West Ham’. No other clubs were named in the report.
Corriere della Sera’s Bergamo edition, local to the Serie A club, reported Maehle is ‘close to leaving’, with West Ham presented as the likely destination.
There’s no mention from either report of the level of transfer fee required to make a move happen. The 25-year-old has a contract with Atalanta lasting until June 2025, so the club are protected in that regard.
Last season he played 35 matches in a variety of positions, able to play on either side and seemingly useful as a wing-back. He could be a versatile addition to Moyes’ West Ham squad.
