Dedryck Boyata is expected to start for Belgium today against Panama, as Vincent Kompany continues his struggles with fitness.
Boyata will be alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in a three man defence and if the Celtic player doesn’t look out of place then it can help elevate his standing.
With a year left on his contract with the Scottish Premiership club, Boyata is in a strong position, and HLN explain he’s in the driving seat when it comes to a renewal with Celtic.
It’s reported Boyata was made a ‘multi-year’ proposal in March, with Celtic keen to get a deal done before the World Cup, but they’ve failed in that regard.
Boyata can’t lose, with HLN explaining that if he doesn’t have a good World Cup he can always fall back back on the offer and stay in Glasgow where ‘he is certain of his place’, but if he does perform and raises his profile then he can demand a much better deal or even look to leave Celtic Park this summer.
Belgium face Tunisia at 1pm today, and Boyata’s big chance should begin.
