Morgan Sanson had a unforgetable spell at Aston Villa after arriving from Marseille in 2021.
The midfielder eventually left Aston Villa in the last summer transfer window to join Nice permanently, after a loan spell there, but he’s yet to play for the French club due since then due to injury and fitness issues.
L’Equipe have highlighted his problems at Nice and his complicated injury situation.
The French newspaper report the player was misdiagnosed following a training ground injury in mid-August and it was eventually discovered he’d suffered two fractures to his ankle, rather the sprain which was first stated.
The midfielder resumed training last week but the likelihood is that he will now only return in 2025. Nice have struggled for league wins in his absence and are currently 6th in Ligue 1.
Sanson made just 23 appearances for Aston Villa across three seasons, with his appearances being restricted by injury and loan moves. During the January 2023 winter transfer window he was loaned out to Strasbourg, followed by a spell at Nice last season.
Hopefully now the correct diagnosis has been made he can move on to getting that dealt with.
