There are many reasons why Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League last night is praised by the European media, and in the case of the Italian press, they found an angle to speak of a specific player.

Outlet Calciomercato today features a story about Ivan Perisic, who made an assist for Richarlison’s first goal.

They point out the Croatian had a ‘sweet evening’, and thanks to his recent performances in the Premier League, the winger is becoming ‘increasingly important’ at Spurs.

Perisic left Inter Milan for Tottenham for nothing this summer, and that’s a reason for the piece to say the Nerazzurri ‘regrets’ his departure.

They now struggle to find an option who can do the same as him, and feel like he’d be useful for them this season.

Especially because they now see him succeeding alongside former club manager Antonio Conte, with the fans having some kind of nostalgia when watching the London side.

Perisic has seven appearances for Tottenham so far, but despite not having scored any goals yet, he already has three assists to his name.
