The Portuguese press continues to report Nottingham Forest’s chase for the Benfica goalkeeper Bruno Varela, despite it not making obvious sense.
Today, it’s website Notícias ao Minuto who brings an update on the situation, saying the player is a priority for the Championship side this summer.
The story says that Forest want the deal to be done as soon as possible, and have itensified their contacts with Benfica.
But there’s still no deal for Varela, as the Eagles are standing firm on their demands. According to Notícias ao Minuto, the Lisbon side continue asking for €15m, while Forest try to get the price down.
As previously pointed out by the Portuguese press this week, Notícias ao Minuto also claims that Benfica’s presence in England this month could be key for the transfer to happen.
The Eagles are having their preseason at St George’s Park next week, and it’s said that the proximity could help Nottingham Forest to get things done more easily.
