Southampton and West Ham are pushing for a deal for Juventus youngster Koni de Winter but need to convince the 20-year-old on the move.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the defender is ‘attracting the attentions’ of five Premier League clubs but name Southampton and West Ham specifically.
Southampton have been linked with a move for De Winter for several months, with their interest in him first reported back in June.
That interest was revived yesterday, when it was made clear that they had ‘already enquired’ about a possible deal for the centre back.
That report also brought Crystal Palace and West Ham into the mix for his signature but Corriere dello Sport focus on the Hammers and the Saints today.
They say that De Winter is currently impressing at Empoli, enjoying himself in the first half of this season with several impressive performances.
That has seen his market value rise to €12m and also saw the Premier League pick up on him and explore the possibility of a move.
The player’s priorities, however, have not changed. He wants to break through for Belgium and Juventus and nobody else.
He is convinced that he can force his way through for the Old Lady before too long and plans to end his stay with Empoli and then work to become one of Juve’s next stars next season.
Thus, he is not considering any interest from the likes of Southampton and West Ham, despite them being big admirers and seemingly eyeing up a January effort for him.
