Towards the end of the week, Tottenham Hotspur joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Juventus’ Rodrigo Bentancur.
Spurs chief Fabio Paratici is involved in negotiations with the Serie A side to bring Dejan Kulusevski to England. Apart from the winger, they also have an interest in Bentancur.
According to Sky Italia, Antonio Conte wants a new midfielder in the winter market. For this reason, the north London club have set their sights on the Uruguay international and ‘work is in progress’ to bring him to the club.
The ex-Boca Juniors man is ‘attracted’ by the possibility to join Tottenham over Steven Gerrard’s side. He knows Paratici well and has faced Conte as an opposition manager. Sky state the ‘negotiation is proceeding on the basis of €19m plus €6m bonuses’.
Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio explains Bentancur is ‘one step away’ from Tottenham. The talks between the two clubs are progressing well for a deal worth €25m [€19m + €6m bonuses].
The South American is ‘getting closer and closer’ to Conte’s side as the ‘final details are to be filed’ for the player’s transfer to Spurs.
Both Sky Italia and Gianluca Di Marzio point out Juventus will have to pay 30 percent of the fee from Bentancur’s sale to his former club, Boca Juniors.
