Still without a club since his exit from Manchester United, Edinson Cavani has been waiting for the right offer to come along.
It’s taken some time, but with a desire to stay in one of the top leagues for a bit longer before ultimately returning to South America, the Uruguayan has been patient.
This has now been rewarded, as multiple reports are claiming that Villarreal have come forward with an offer for the striker.
Enjoying two very different years at Manchester United, the player felt he still had something to give, and it appears the La Liga side feel the same way, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting the player was ‘evaluating’ an offer from them.
It was said to be an ‘attractive’ one, as Villarreal moved ‘insistently’ to try and bring him to Spain for him to carry on his career.
Not only that, but Marca are now reporting that Cavani, who scored 19 goals in 59 games for Manchester United, as well as picking up seven assists, has an ‘agreement in principle’ with Villarreal.
However, before this can go through, Paco Alcacer needs to leave the club, with the player currently training away from the first-team as he spots out his future.
An extra incentive for Cavani here is that he already knows Unai Emery ‘perfectly’, having worked under him at Paris Saint-Germain before ultimately moving to Manchester United on a free.
One to keep an eye on.
