Red Bull Salzburg defender Maximilian Wöber has admitted his dream club is Manchester United, but he’s not held any contact with them about a move.
24-year-old Wöber has been with Salzburg since 2019, having arrived from Ajax’s youth team after two years with the Dutch giants.
He had initially joined Ajax from Rapid Wien, whom he had grown up with as a youngster, making his debut in the first team in 2016.
Wöber’s season in the first team earned him the interest of Ajax, who paid €7.5m to sign him in August 2017.
He would go on to make 30 appearances in total for the Dutch side before being moved on to Sevilla on loan and then a permanent move to Salzburg in 2019.
His time in Amsterdam saw him working alongside Erik ten Hag, with the current Manchester United manager arriving in the same summer as Wöber.
And when asked about a possible reunion with his former manager at Old Trafford, the defender has admitted he would be more than open to it.
“Of course, I’m tempted to go abroad in one way or another,” Sky Sport Austria report him saying.
“But I made a conscious decision in the summer to extend my contract with Salzburg once again, because I’ve really found joy and fun in football here again.
“I’ve blossomed again, and I’ve grown into an absolute leader in the team and in the club.
“Since Manchester United is my absolute dream club, I would definitely say ‘yes’ there, but it won’t play out. There has been no contact.”
