Striker Rafa Mir has revealed it was ‘easy’ for him to decide to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer when Sevilla came calling.
Mir was hot property after impressing on loan at Huesca, where he spent 18 months and racked up 25 goals and two assists in 57 games.
Several Spanish sides were keen on his signature as a result, and it was Sevilla who eventually won the race, paying Wolves £14.4m back in August.
That brought an end to a disappointing spell at Molineux for Mir, who joined Wolves from Valencia back in January 2018.
He was never really afforded a chance to make his mark at the club, though, instead being sent out on loan for spells at Las Palmas, Nottingham Forest and then Huesca.
Ultimately he made just five appearances for Wolves in his three years there, and as a result, he felt nothing holding him back when Sevilla made their intentions clear in the summer.
“It was all very quick,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“We had had conversations with the coach and Monchi, and I was very excited to come to a club like Sevilla.
“The next day everything was sorted out, and I was able to travel, in the morning I woke up singing ‘Sevilla has a special colour’…
“I was clear about the step I wanted to take, and after feeling the affection and desire of the club, it was easy to decide.”
(‘Sevilla has a special colour’ is a famous Spanish song by Los del Rio.)
