This summer was something of an unprecedented one as far as the relationship between the Premier League and the Turkish Süper Lig was concerned.
Several players decided to swap England for Turkey throughout the transfer window, and Florin Andone was among those making a move.
The striker swapped Brighton for Galatasaray, joining the Turkish club on loan until the end of the season.
Andone’s time at the Amex Stadium has not been a successful one to say the least, with the Seagulls signing him last summer in the hope he could take the goalscoring burden off of Glenn Murray.
That never happened with Andone managing just four goals in 24 games and unable to replicate the form that made them sign him from Deportivo de La Coruña.
He’s hoping that might change in Turkey but admitted he had to convince Brighton to let him leave in the first place.
“It’s a new start, I really want to play,” he told Digi Sport.
“Brighton was always against me leaving, but it was my decision to play more. I felt that in Brighton, I would not have the minutes I needed to recover my level from Deportivo.
“I miss playing every week, giving goals, feeling important in the team. Galatasaray were very interested.
“They wanted me 3-4 years ago; I feel that they wanted me (this summer). It will be very difficult, Falcao is there, it will be very very difficult.”
