Albert Sambi Lokonga has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and the north London club must find an agreement with Anderlecht in order to bring the player to the Emirates.
After the Belgian side rejected the Gunners’ initial offer of €14m plus €3m in bonuses, Het Nieuwsblad reported on Tuesday that Arsenal made a new proposal which was ‘well above €15m’.
Another newspaper Het Belang van Limburg are also reporting Mikel Arteta’s side have ‘increased their offer’ to sign the midfielder.
Sevilla and Atalanta showed interest in the 21-year-old, but he ‘absolutely wanted to go to London’.
Vincent Kompany’s side wanted a guaranteed fee of €20m. However, the English club’s latest proposal is around €17.5m in fixed fee plus €4m in potential bonuses.
The negotiations between the two clubs are mainly taking place on whether the percentage of a future sale should be set at five percent or 15 percent.
There’s belief the deal will go through as HBVL add the player is ‘about to leave’ Anderlecht. They further add the English club have offered a five-year contract to Lokonga.
