On June 29th, we carried a report from Calciomercato, who explained Bologna have received ‘two officials offers’ from Tottenham Hotspur and Atalanta for Takehiro Tomiyasu.

It was also explained that another Serie A side is ‘seemingly the player’s favoured destination’.

Spurs are without a manager, but that hasn’t stopped their new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, working in the background to strengthen the north London club’s squad for next season.

In their transfer live blog, Sky Italia state the Premier League side ‘tighten’ their grip on the 22-year-old.

It’s claimed the English club have made an offer of €15m plus €3m in bonuses and that has helped them in ‘overtaking Atalanta’ in the race for the Japan international.

Sky add that a ‘couple of millions are dancing’, suggesting Spurs and Bologna are a few million apart, and Tottenham’s plan is to ‘close’ Tomiyasu’s signing ‘in the next few days’.

Operating in the heart of defence and as a right-back, Tomiyasu made 33 appearances across all competitions last season for Bologna.
