Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has told Dani Ceballos that Mikel Arteta will be the best manager to help him adapt to the Premier League.
Ceballos joined the Gunners on loan from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window as he looked to find regular playing time away from the Bernabeu.
He made an immediate impact at the Emirates, impressing Arsenal fans and pundits alike with a series of impressive performances at the beginning of the season.
Like Arsenal’s form, though, his performances soon curtailed, with injuries and a lack of consistency seeing him struggle to make as big an impact.
A change in coach, with Arteta replacing Unai Emery in December, had seen Ceballos‘ form take an upturn and Senderos has insisted Arteta is the man to help him adapt to life in England.
“It is never easy to adapt to English football, but if you have to, the best possible coach is Mikel Arteta,” he told Marca.
Whether Ceballos gets the opportunity to work with Arteta in the long-term remains to be seen.
He’s set to return to Madrid in the summer when his loan deal expires and so far it’s looking unlikely that Arsenal will be able to secure a permanent deal for him.
Of course, that can always change, and perhaps a word from compatriot Arteta could convince him to keep their relationship going for a little longer.
