Mario Balotelli has spoken to French newspaper Nice Matin for what may have been a period of days, given the length of the interview.
Over several pages in their Thursday edition, Nice Matin throw out all the quotes, and Balotelli has told them so much that some are simply given their own little section, because they don’t fit in with the general flow.
One of the sections is a series of quick-fire questions put to the former Manchester City and Liverpool player, and he’s asked which of the two English clubs he prefers. Dismissing there being any basis for comparison, Balotelli answered: “Pfft, City, a stupid question.”
Balotelli became a big star in England whilst playing for Manchester City, and enjoyed a successful period with the club. The same can’t be said of his time at Liverpool, with there being a determination to make the striker’s Anfield period as difficult as possible.
A series of leaks and something of a collaboration between Brendan Rodgers and the local Liverpool media made sure there was little to no chance of the transfer being a success.
In one of the sections Nice Matin use to simply throw some Balotelli wisdom out, the Italian is quoted as saying: “I will never go back to Liverpool. The fans are wonderful,
but the leadership team is a real disaster.”
Asked about choosing Nice, Balotelli had another Liverpool comment: “And when I arrived here, I saw the city. I was living in a difficult situation in Liverpool, in a city I didn’t like. I needed change after two failed seasons between Liverpool and AC Milan. And coming to OGC Nice, which, with all due respect, is not Real Madrid, was a risk if I failed again. But here, I found the right environment to succeed.”
Much better memories of Manchester City then.
