After multiple claims that Andreas Pereira was close to leaving Manchester United and heading to Lazio, we now have something concrete to state that’s the case.
It comes from Igli Tare, the Serie A side’s director of football, who gave a quick breakdown of what to expect from the Rome club in the last few days of the transfer window, which will include the welcoming of the unwanted Red Devil.
Left out by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in every game so far this season, the 24-year-old is expected to arrive in Italy on a loan with a view to buy at a fee of either €10m or €27m depending on who you believe.
In fact, he could do so by the weekend.
Igli Tare, speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, said: “Atalanta and Inter? To say they are fundamental games is too much. We have four players missing who must arrive. Pereira will arrive in two to three days.”
As for Simone Inzaghi in all this, the Italian manager seems fine with the idea of working with the Manchester United player, telling the same website as much on Monday.
He said: “I know him, he’s a quality player who could help us a lot. Now I don’t want to talk about players who aren’t ours. We are lucky enough to have Tare who knows how to do it. If he doesn’t, we’ll see.”
Either way, that’s as close as an official confirmation we’re going to get until Pereira is seen waving a light blue scarf in the next few days.
This one seems to be well on its way, but after what happened with David Silva, maybe it’s best to wait before getting too caught up in it.
