On Wednesday, Thomas Gravesen had a bit of a dig at the Denmark national team, and claimed that the current squad was unhealthy.
That didn’t sit well with Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who faced the press on Thursday, and was asked directly about the situation in the team, relayed by TV2, especially after the comments from the former player.
This came following a rather poor performance in a 2-1 win over San Marino, with many feeling the Denmark national team should be walking over such opposition.
The Tottenham player said that while he understands where the criticism is coming from, there is a belief within the team that everything is now on the right track.
He said: “We know we have to focus on the things we can do something about, and I understand people have opinions. I also think that is healthy. It’s also something that people should be allowed to do, but the things we turn around and focus on internally, we also keep a bit to ourselves.
“From the outside, I can see that it can seem a bit dull if you don’t share everything right in the middle of the process, but the positive thing is that everyone I’ve talked to at least wants to push for those things and wants to remove performances like the one delivered in San Marino.”
The Tottenham player has recently been in the news as he appears to be target for the likes of Juventus in January, with Spurs reportedly asking for around €30m to get a deal done.
