Forcing Steven Gerrard to publicly address the situation surrounding Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos, OGC Nice, in an attempt to replace Mario Balotelli, pushed all the wrong buttons.
Making an approach for the 22-year-old forward, the Ligue 1 side went about it the wrong way, offering far too little, annoying the former Liverpool captain in the process.
On Friday, we covered the reaction from France to Nice’s failed attempts at signing the Rangers forward, and fans aren’t happy about the way people at their club are doing things.
Thankfully for Steven Gerrard and Rangers, it appears Morelos is safe, at least for the time being, as Foot Mercato explain the path leading to the 20 goal (so far) striker appears to now be ‘compromised’.
Nice have since turned their attention to Marseille’s Valère Germain, who will see his game time reduced even further since their acquisition of Balotelli.
A deal appears to have been agreed between the two sides, but the recent agreement to change ownership at the southern French side has yet to be officially completed, meaning things are being delayed.
Either way, Morelos, Gerrard, Rangers and their fans can now all sleep soundly at night.
